US Geography

Physical Map of the United States.

Political Map of the United States.

The United States boasts a wide range of both climate and topography.  Most of the continental United States have a temperate climate, however parts of Florida and Hawaii can be described as tropical, Alaska is Arctic, and west of the Mississippi is arid and semi-arid.

There are two major mountain ranges, the Appalachians in the east, and the Rockies in the west.  The Mississippi River cuts the continental US in half, and the great lakes predominate directly between Canada and the US above the central plains, with Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.
